Kitchener looking for your help guiding city’s next strategic plan

By Jeff Pickel

The City of Kitchener is getting ready to launch a new strategic plan to guide council over the next four years.

City staff are looking for your thoughts on what should be made a priority between 2019 and 2022.

Karen Cooper is the city's strategy manager and says they have already identified one major theme though a Environics survey.

“For the first time social inclusivity came up as a topic and it rated second behind transit…That would be exploring topics like affordable housing, homelessness, response to addiction and response to poverty in the community.” Cooper told 570 NEWS.

She says highlights from the last strategic plan included the neighbourhood strategy, Digital Kitchener and allowing backyard chickens.

There are two drop in sessions this week.

One is Tuesday, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Victoria Hills Community Centre.

The next one takes place Thursday, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Downtown Community Centre.
