Here’s the regional, municipal service changes over the holidays

Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

  • Regional Administrative Offices (Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, and airport administrative offices) will be closed Dec. 27, 28, and Jan. 3.
  • Grand River Transit will operate winter holiday service Dec. 20 to Jan. 2.
  • Curbside waste will be collected as regularly scheduled (there are no changes to the collection schedule). Please have waste items at the curb by 7 a.m. The Cambridge and Waterloo Transfer Stations will be closed for residential access on Dec. 25 and 27, and Jan. 1 and 3.
  • Region of Waterloo Library holiday hours:
    Dec. 24: All branches open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Dec. 25 – Dec. 27: All branches closed
    Dec. 28, 29, 30: Branches open their regular hours
    Dec. 31: All branches open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Jan. 1: All branches closed

  • Home child care is operating as specified by your provider. Offices will be closed Dec. 27 and 28.
  • Seniors’ Services administration will be closed Dec. 27 and 28.
  • Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed Dec. 27, 30, and 31.
  • Community Alzheimer Day and Dinner Programs and Young Onset Dementia Association will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3.
  • Seniors’ Services Overnight Stay Program will be closed from Dec. 24 to 28.
  • Welcome Spaces will be closed Dec. 27, 28 and Jan. 3.
  • Schneider Haus National Historic Site will be open to the public Dec. 20, 21, 22, 31 and Jan. 2.
  • Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum will be open to the public Dec. 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30, 31, Jan 2.
