Conestoga College bought Sonny’s Restaurant property

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Conestoga College has confirmed it recently purchased the property that was once home to Sonny's Restaurant in Waterloo.

A college spokesperson told CityNews 570 on Friday, plans for future use of the property at 256 Weber Street are currently under development, so the college can't share any specifics at this point.

The property is adjacent to Conestoga's Waterloo campus.

The former owner of Sonny's said last month that he wasn't aware what the buyers' plans would be for the restaurant.

The drive-in was first established in 1965 and became a beloved burger joint, and was also well known for its fish and chips and onion rings.
