If you have plans to enjoy the weekend outdoors in Perth County, you won't be able to roast marshmallows over a campfire.
A burn ban is now in effect, which means all open-air fires are prohibited in the Townships of Perth East and Perth South, and the Municipality of West Perth.
Fire officials say extremely dry conditions have made burning very dangerous. The only exception is for cooking fires on campsites between noon and nightfall, with those fires put out by midnight.
The rules also apply to property owners who already have permits, which are suspended until the ban is lifted.
If you discover an open air fire, you should report it immediately to 911.
