Parking lot rage incident lands Arthur man in hot water

By GuelphToday Staff

An Arthur male faces criminal charges after an apparent case of parking lot rage in Guelph Tuesday.

Shortly before 5 p.m. a pickup was driving through the parking lot of Stone Road Mall when it got stopped behind a delivery truck. The driver of the pickup accelerated at a high rate of speed, passing the delivery truck and narrowly missing two pedestrians.

This was witnessed by mall staff, who followed the pickup to speak to the driver. The driver threatened to kill the employees before driving his truck towards them, swerving around them at the last moment.

Guelph police arrived a short time later and located the pickup in another nearby parking lot. The male yelled at police and refused to exit the vehicle, but was eventually removed and arrested.

A 24-year-old Arthur male is charged with dangerous driving and uttering threats. He will appear in a Guelph court Feb. 18.
