One man arrested after weapons incident in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police responded to the Ahrens Street and College Street area of Kitchener on Thursday following a weapons incident.

Police announced the initial details in a social media post shortly after 4 p.m.

They said officers were on scene for a weapons investigation but no further details were immediately released.

Police later confirmed there were no physical injuries reported and there’s no public safety concerns.

In a tweet Thursday evening just after 7 p.m., police said one man was taken into custody after successful negotiations.

The public was asked to avoid the area as the police investigation continued.
