Four charged after allegedly tossing bottles off 35th-floor balcony during party

By Canadian Press

Toronto police say they’ve laid criminal charges after people allegedly tossed glass bottles off a 35th floor balcony while attending a party.

Investigators say they were called about reports of a large gathering at a short-term rental unit, which is currently forbidden under Toronto’s stay-at-home order.

They say that when police got there, people threw bottles off the balcony, narrowly missing some officers.

Police say they went up to the 35th floor, and found numerous people in the unit.

Seven people were charged with failing to comply with the emergency orders under the Re-Opening Ontario Act.

Four others, who range in age from 22 to 37, face criminal charges that include mischief, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and common nuisance.
