Chatham-Kent officer reinstated following guilty plea to Police Services Act charges

Police in Chatham-Kent say an officer has been reinstated to the force following his guilty plea to charges under the Police Services Act.

Darcy Lunn pleaded guilty to one count of neglect of duty and three counts of discreditable conduct at a hearing on Dec. 15.

Police say these were in connection to criminal charges of assault and uttering threats that Lunn pleaded guilty to in May.

Police say Lunn brought his firearm home without permission as well as paperwork between 2009 and 2010.

They say he had threatened to strike his wife and pushed her against a wall in 2015.

Investigators also allege that Lunn had called his wife at work and threatened to harm her that same year.

Police say Lunn has since been reinstated from suspension and assigned to the Community Patrol Branch.

Terence Kelly, a retired Deputy Chief of the York Regional Police, served as the hearing officer.

He demoted Lunn from first-class Constable to the rank of fourth class Constable for six months, third class Constable for six months, and second class Constable for six months.
