Oktoberfest is here and 570 News is the only source you will need!
570 News will have detailed coverage all weekend with everything from where you can ‘fest, what roads are closed, what the parade route is and where all the major events are happening.
We’ll have detailed traffic updates from the 570 News Traffic Chopper this morning.
Saturday’s breakfast in downtown Waterloo was a huge success. Rogers Kitchener Radio Group personalities from 570 News and our sister stations 96.7 CHYM FM and KIX 106.7 FM served up great food during the K-W Oktoberfest Free Family Breakfast.
This morning it’s the annual Oktoberfest Parade and we will have all the information you need to navigate your way through the area around the route as well as traffic updates on closures and slow spots.

150 thousand fest-goers will line the streets today to watch the annual Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Parade.
Jean Weiler, Parade Director, says the parade boasts more than 30 floats this year.
“We got some new floats,” said Weiler. “Schneider’s will have some motion, as well as a neat pirate ship and a replica of the titanic which has a whistle that the titanic had.”
Weiler says, for the first time, those in attendance can pick a favourite float to win with the Text your Vote for People’s Choice Float contest.
“Each float will be numbered and they can text for their favourite float,” said Weiler. “There will be a West Jet prize for the winning float.”
Spectators can catch the parade beginning at 8:30 in downtown Waterloo at King and Erb Streets.
The parade covers 5 kilometres and ends at King and Madison streets in Kitchener.
Obviously one of the most popular activities during the week is attending the Festhallen for incredible food, great music and lots of polka!
