Truck driver charged for not wearing seat belt

Police in Stratford have charged a truck driver after officers said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

The driver was stopped Wednesday around 1:00 p.m. on Huron Street in Stratford.

The seatbelt wasn’t the only alleged issue.

Police claimed the driver was also operating the vehicle with a suspended licence.

“After pulling the driver over, it was learned the vehicle was only registered under a temporary 10-day permit that was expired several months ago and the driver had a suspended licence,” said police.

“The licence plates were seized, and the vehicle was towed at the owner’s expense.”

The driver from Toronto, 35, is now facing a total of six charges.

Those charges include failing to wear a seat belt and driving while under suspension.
