A 60-year-old man is facing a multiple charges following a series of commercial robberies at Kitchener businesses.
The first instance happened at a business near Belmont Avenue and Glasgow Street on the evening of March 29. A release notes that a male confronted an employee with a knife, demanding cash before fleeing the scene. No items were reported stolen, and there were no injuries.
On April 4 just before 10:00 p.m., police say the same suspect entered a business again, brandishing a knife and demanding cash. The suspect left with nothing.
Less than an hour later, he again entered a business, this one on King and Andrew streets. Security intervened this time, and he once again fled. Just minutes later, police allege the suspect entered a third business, pulling a knife and stealing a cash register.
The Direct Action Response Team as well as North Patrol, and the Emergency Response Team were able to identify the man and promptly arrested him.
He’s now facing multiple charges, including robbery with a weapon, four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, four counts of disguise with intent, uttering threats, and possession of an identity document.
