Youths as young as 14 charged in robbery, assault

Four youths and one young adult are facing charges after what police believe to be a targeted robbery.

Regional police were called to the area of Acorn Way and Bowie Drive in Cambridge Saturday evening for a report of a disturbance in the area.

Following an investigation, officers say a group of suspects assaulted a victim and sprayed them with bear spray. The suspects then stole the victim’s personal belongings before fleeing the area, the release reads.

Responding officers arrested four suspects on Glamis Road near Macatee Place. A fifth suspect jumped a fence in an attempt to flee, but was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

The victim sustained minor physical injuries.

Four Cambridge youths, ages 14, 14, 15, and 16, were arrested and charged with numerous offences, including:

  • Administer noxious thing with intent to aggrieve or annoy;
  • Carrying concealed weapon;
  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Robbery;
  • Disguise with intent;
  • Possession counterfeit money; and
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon.

An 18-year-old Brantford male was also arrested and charged with the following:

  • Robbery;
  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Carrying concealed weapon; and
  • Disguise with intent.
