Police said one of the cruisers was at the side of the highway for a traffic stop when a Ford pick-up truck collided with it.
The pick-up driver allegedly fled the scene, only to crash a short distance away.
Officials said neither the pick-up driver nor any officers were hurt.
Officers arrested a 63-year-old man from Cambridge.
His charges are:
- Impaired operation- alcohol and drug
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Fail to remain
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation
- Careless driving
- Fail to slow down and proceed with caution for emergency vehicle
Police remind all drivers that they are required to slow down, and when safe, move into another lane when coming up to a stopped emergency vehicle or a tow truck with flashing lights.
