Single vehicle collision in Guelph turns fatal

Guelph police continue to investigate a fatal collision in that city on Friday.

Just before 10 a.m. police responded to a call from a business in the Norfolk Street and Commercial Street area.

Staff at the business told officers an S.U.V. had veered off the road and struck the back of the building, then caught fire.

Employees jumped into action and were able to extinguish the flames.

The business was evacuated for a short time because of smoke in the building.

Guelph Fire and Guelph Wellington Paramedics arrived and extricated the driver who was transported to hospital.

Police say the 70-year-old woman succumb to her injuries.
