The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating a break-in that occurred while the targeted residence was occupied.
The incident was reported Feb. 23 as an unknown male got inside a Kitchener home and stole personal items, before leaving.
The break-and-enter happened between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. in the Waterloo Street and Louisa Street area.
While people were inside the dwelling at the time, no injuries were reported.
Police have released surveillance images of an individual they are trying to identify in connection with their investigation.
Police have also released tips for homeowners to keep in mind to prevent break-and-enters.
- Lock windows and doors, including garage doors, even when home.
- Ensure valuables are secured in a locked location, such as a safe.
- Consider installing a surveillance/security system, which can remotely monitor the front, rear, and inside the residence.
- Report any suspicious activity or individuals to police immediately.
