SIU finds Stratford police officer committed criminal offence after incident with man in February of 2023

Ontario’s police watchdog has concluded that a Stratford police officer committed a criminal offence during an interaction with a 35-year-old man in February of this year.
On the evening of Feb. 1, Stratford Police Service (SPS) officers responded to the transit terminal, located in Cooper Block, for a man causing a disturbance. Officers found the suspect and arrested him.
He was taken to hospital for treatment for a serious injury.
As a result of the Special investigations Unit (SIU) investigation, Cody Millian, a SPS constable, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
Millian is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at 100 St. Patrick Street in Stratford on Sept. 11, 2023.
The SIU will make no further comment pertaining to this investigation.
