Vigil for Ukraine happening on one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A somber anniversary later this week as Friday marks one year since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began.

Solidarity events are being held in cities across the country on February 24.

Organizers plan to show support for Ukranians after 365 days of resistance.

Tens of thousands of people have been killed or injured in the war, and millions have been displaced.

Locally, there will be a candlelight vigil in downtown Kitchener on Friday. It's set to run for two hours beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Carl Zehr Square.
