Lions Park ball diamond in Elmira to get new lighting

Back in January, the Township of Woolwich received a $250,000 grant from the province as part of the government's Community Building Fund by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

And with that cash, comes new LED lighting at Lions Park in Elmira. The new, energy efficient lights are expected to be installed by the end of the year. 

Township officials hope the new lights will improve safety and playability in the area for years to come. 

Over the past two years, the park on Barnswallow Drive has had the playground replaced, new soccer light tower foundations installed, and renovations completed on the washrooms, to make them more accessible. 

In a release, Mayor Sandy Shantz says, “The Township of Woolwich is an established, forward-thinking and growing municipality. We are thrilled and appreciate the $250,000 grant that the Ontario Trillium Foundation has invested in our community. This grant allows us to address our aging infrastructure while continuing to provide our residents with a well-lit and safe recreation space.”
