Canada to play USA in semis

Canada will face the United States in a semi-final at the world junior hockey championship Thursday.
The United States beat the Czech Republic 7-0 in a quarter-final this morning.
Kitchener Rangers goalie John Gibson stopped 31 shots for the shutout.
Canada earned a bye to the semis for finishing first in its pool.
The semifinal will be a rematch of a preliminary-round game between the two countries.
Canada edged the U-S 2-1 in pool play on Sunday.
Team Canada and Kitchener Rangers Head Coach, Steve Spott says the Americans have got really good speed and can sting you offensively.
Spott adds Canada needs to play strong offensively and protect pucks.
“We’ve had to play four tough hockey games to get to this point…Our players are prepared and excited to play.” said Spott.
Thursday’s game starts at 4am Eastern time. Canada’s last loss to the USA came in the final back in 2010.
Russia will play Sweden in the other semi. The Russians needed a shootout to defeat Switzerland 4-3 in the quarter-finals.
