Guilty plea in death of child

A Cambridge man will be sentenced in December after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of a four-year-old girl.

29-year-old Robert Boettger was originally charged with murder, in the 2011 death of Rayna Gagne.

Boettger was babysitting the youngster in the home of the girl’s mother and his then-girlfriend.

CTV reports, court was told Rayna was hit on the face and spanked because she would not go to bed.

The blows were reportedly strong enough to knock her over.

She fell, struck her head and died in hospital two days later.
