Every summer when school is out, the Waterloo Regional Police Service challenges the Region to gather school supplies.
Waterloo Police say that over their past eight backpack challenges, over 28,000 have been donated, supporting families and students without.
This year, Fairview Park Mall is lending a helping hand, as for the ninth-ever backpack challenge, school supplies can also be dropped off at the mall.
Starting today, from 1 p.m., to 3 p.m., from July 25th to August 19th, residents will be able to drop off supplies at Fairview’s promo court, by entrance one.
Today, Waterloo police will be in the area to connect with the local community and answer any questions you have about the program.
There will also be a kids’ station for activities, including:
- Make your own police badge
- Balloon Animals
- Glitter Tattoos
- Create a personalized note of encouragement to be included inside donated backpacks
Those who donate at the Fairview Park location can enter a draw to win different prizes, including:
- Two chances to win a $250 Fairview Park gift card
- Four chances to win two Cineplex movie passes
- Three chances for a $25 Dairy Queen gift certificate.
For more information about the contest, you can go to the Fairview Park Mall website.
More information about the backpack drive and other drop-off locations to donate can be found at the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s website.
