Kitchener man charged in Sault Ste. Marie assault case

A man from Kitchener is facing an assault charge after an incident outside a Sault Ste. Marie business.

Early Sunday around 2:00 a.m., police were called to the business on Queen Street East.

A man reportedly punched another person multiple times after police said he was denied a ride.

The man and the person he allegedly hit, did not know each other.

Matthew Broderick, 31, of Kitchener has since been charged with assault and being intoxicated in a public place.

Police described the victim’s injuries as minor.
