Woolwich woman faces multiple charges after attempted vehicle theft

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a woman from Woolwich following an investigation into an attempted theft of a vehicle late Wednesday.

At around 11 p.m. on July 1, the 18-year-old suspect and a victim were in the area near Sandy Hills Drive in Woolwich. The suspect approached the victim and demanded their car keys. The suspect brandished a knife and assaulted the victim, leading to police being called to the scene.

The suspect did not successfully steal the victim’s car and was caught by police a short distance away from the altercation.

After the woman was arrested, an investigation resulted in a number of charges related to the violent robbery. The suspect now faces charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Robbery with violence
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Assault causing bodily harm

Following the investigation, authorities believe the incident was targeted.
