Guelph man charged after police officer was bitten

Guelph police have charged a man over a dispute with neighbours and an incident with police.

Officers were called to a residential property in Guelph’s West End, early Wednesday afternoon for complaints that a real estate “For Sale” sign had been cut down with a chainsaw.

Officers located a suspect who was wanted for actions stemming from a separate dispute with another neighbour.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged.

But police say that while the man was being processed, he became combative, and one of the officers was bitten on the forearm.

A 52-year-old Guelph man is charged with assaulting police, criminal harassment, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

The man was held for a bail hearing on Thursday.
