Six arrested in ongoing tractor-trailer, load theft investigation

Regional police laid a whopping 61 charges in connection with an ongoing investigation into truck, trailer and load thefts, while also seizing drugs and stolen goods.
Offences stem from search warrants in both Kitchener and Hamilton on March 23 by the service’s Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery Unit.
According to police, those searches led officers to the seizure of a stolen tractor-trailer, as well as a variety of items, including:
- Devices used to steal commercial motor vehicles
- Electronic global positioning system (GPS) locating device
- Electronic telecommunications signal jamming device
- Tracking devices
Also seized were unspecified quantities of both suspected heroin and suspected methamphetamine.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, police have arrested six adult men from Brampton, Mississauga and Paris. Those men were jointly charged with 61 charges including:
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Motor vehicle theft (organized crime)
- Extortion
- Possession of automobile master key
- Possession of break and enter tools
- Dangerous driving
- Assault with a weapon
- Conspiracy to commit
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
Those men were held in custody for a bail hearing.
