Kitchener Rangers take 2-0 series lead over Saginaw

A winning weekend for the Kitchener Rangers, now up 2-0 in their playoff series with the Saginaw Spirit.

Sunday night, over 6,500 fans watched the Rangers blank the Spirit 4-0 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

Sam O’Reilly opened the scoring for the East Avenue Blue. The remaining goals were scored by Gabriel Chiarot, Tanner Lam and Cameron Reid.

The Rangers dominance really showed in the third period, with Saginaw unable to even get a shot in on goaltender Christian Kirsch.

The win Sunday marked Kirsch’s first career OHL playoff shutout.

The Blueshirts now head south of the border for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Thursday.

If needed, Game 5 would be Friday back in Kitchener.
