Pedestrian hurt in ‘serious’ crash early Wednesday

A pedestrian is in hospital on Wednesday after a hit-and-run crash in the early morning hours.

Waterloo regional police were called to Bennington Gate and Columbia Street West to reports of a crash around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

That’s not too far from Fischer-Hallman Road North.

Police said a 24-year-old man was reportedly hit by a dark coloured SUV.

The driver left the scene, and the pedestrian had to be sent to hospital. Early reports from police indicate that his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to reach out to police or Crime Stoppers.
