Man wanted in Kitchener shooting investigation arrested

A man who was on the run after a shooting in Kitchener that left a 30-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds has now been arrested.

Regional police announced last week that they were looking for a man wanted in connection with a Jan. 28 shooting in the area of Scott Street and King Street East. The incident happened around 9:00 p.m., and the victim was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Feb. 10, officers said they executed two search warrants in Kitchener and arrested two men. As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old man from Kitchener, was identified and wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection with the shots fired. Police said the accused was considered armed and dangerous.

On Feb. 24, the accused attended a police station in Kitchener and was placed under arrest.

He is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Aggravated assault
  • Robbery with firearm

Dozens of charges laid in connection with the case

The two other men arrested in the case are a 25-year-old man and a 28-year-old man, both from Kitchener.

Regional police noted in previous reports that the shooting was targeted.

The 25-year-old was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm.

The 28-year-old was charged with:

  • Careless use of firearm
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Point firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition order (two counts)
  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Aggravated assault
  • Robbery with a firearm
