GRT bus crashes into Cambridge home

With Wednesday’s freezing rain bringing slippery sidewalks and road conditions, Waterloo Regional Police are sharing word of a crash that saw a Grand River Transit bus leave the roadway and slam into a nearby home in Cambridge.

It was around 7:15 p.m. when police responded to that call after receiving reports of a bus that had run into a home on Franklin Boulevard near Edward Street in Cambridge.

Police have said that the driver of the bus lost control of their vehicle, with road and weather conditions both considered factors in the collision.

Despite there being two passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, police said no physical injuries have been reported.

Pictures shared to social media from the scene show damage to the home as a result of the crash.

Police have not mentioned any potential charges at this time.

As of Thursday morning, road closed signs remain in place on Franklin Boulevard through the area of Edward Street.
