A Waterloo man has been arrested for an alleged gunpoint robbery and assault in Guelph from more than two months ago.
Guelph police said it all began on Dec. 2, with a 911 call from a worker in the Woodlawn Road West and Elmira Road North area, who told officers an injured man had just come up to them asking for help.
That man turned out to be from northern Ontario, and police said he had come to Guelph to meet with a number of males to talk about investments.
Police said the man was sitting in the SUV belonging to one of these males when a man came into the vehicle and began assaulting the victim.
The suspects allegedly stole his personal belongings, but he was able to get away and run for help.
He was treated in hospital for head and facial injuries.
Guelph police say they arrested a suspect on Monday this week: a 26-year-old man from Waterloo.
He was originally charged with robbery with a firearm and forcible confinement. But police say during a search, officers found small baggies of what is believed to be cocaine and Percocet.
Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking were added to his charges.
Guelph Police are still investigating.
