One week out until Christmas Day, and temperatures are hitting a high of 5 C in Waterloo Region.
Will the mild weather be enough to spoil a white Christmas? Simply put: no.
570 NewsRadio Meteorologist Carl Lam said the chances of a white Christmas are looking pretty good in Waterloo Region.
“Now that we are a week out from Christmas, we’re keeping an eye on the probabilities of whether we will have a white Christmas across the region. We do have a few chances for snow tomorrow, for Saturday, and it looks like for next Tuesday we could also get another little wave of snow too,” said Lam.
“So the odds are looking pretty decent at this point that it all sticks around because those temperatures are going to be below the freezing mark; we have just one day next week that looks to be slightly above freezing. So all in all, the odds are pretty good that we will have a white Christmas across the region.”
Thursday afternoon is expected to get as warm as 5 C with rain showers likely by early evening.
Lam said winds from the southeast will be noticeable with gusts between 70 and 80 km/hr.
The record high for Dec. 18 was set back in 1967 at 10 C.
