Bring on the bears! Rangers Teddy Bear Toss night Tuesday

An annual hockey tradition returns to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Tuesday night.

It’s Teddy Bear Toss time as the Kitchener Rangers face-off against the Erie Otters.

It’s a big anniversary for the fur-flying fun, marking 30 years since the first bear landed on the ice.

Over 29 years, 190,791 bears have been donated and distributed to families in need in Waterloo Region.

Tuesday night fans are encouraged to bring a new bear or stuffed animal and place it in a plastic bag.

After the Kitchener Rangers‘ first goal, the charitable chaos begins as the bears are thrown onto the ice, and then collected.

Luke Ellinas made the fur fly last year, with a massive crowd of 7,293 people donating 10,409 bears.

The Teddy Bear Toss sees the Kitchener Rangers partner with Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program.

Tuesday night’s match-up can be heard live on 570 NewsRadio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.
