The City of Cambridge has lost its fire chief, and the municipality is offering no explanation about how or why it happened.
Rob Martin is no longer in that role as of this month, according to his LinkedIn account.
570 NewsRadio asked Cambridge’s media representatives to confirm if he was fired.
The one sentence response was: “The City is unable to comment on confidential human resource matters and remains focused on ensuring continuity of service to our residents and supporting our employees through this transition.”
The city confirmed in a later email that Mayor Jan Liggett, who has strong mayor powers, “was not involved” in Martin leaving the post.
The city has yet to confirm to 570 NewsRadio who has been running the Cambridge Fire Department since Martin’s departure, and what sort of timeline is in place for finding a permanent new chief.
Martin was Cambridge’s fire chief for two years and a month. Before that, he was the Deputy Fire Chief in Brampton for just over three years.
