Local watch parties for the Blue Jays World Series run in Waterloo Region

As the Toronto Blue Jays look to bring a World Series title back to Canada for the first time in 32 years, local fans will be able to gather at local watch parties across Waterloo Region.

Game 1 of the World Series matchup between the Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers starts on Friday at 8:00 p.m. on Sportsnet.

Tickets for home games sold out within minutes, with some costing thousands of dollars.

Here’s a list of free watch parties to attend across the region:

Kitchener

The Stanley Park Neighbourhood Association organized a viewing party for Game 1 of the World Series at the Stanley Park Community Centre.

The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium will be welcoming Blue Jays fans for Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday, Oct. 25. The game will be projected on the big screen, with fans able to watch it from the stands for a stadium-like experience.

The City of Kitchener said in an Instagram post that while the event is free to attend, they will be taking non-perishable food items and cash donations for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. It added that it may host a potential Game 7 viewing if the series goes that far.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The municipality said the schedule for the rest of the watches are as follows:

  • Game 3: Monday, October 27. **CANCELLED**
  • Game 4: Tuesday, October 28, at THEMUSEUM. Family-friendly events begin at 7:30 p.m.
  • Game 5 (if necessary): Wednesday, October 2. Details TBD.
  • Game 6 (if necessary):  No watch party due to Halloween.
  • Game 7 (if necessary): Saturday, November 1 at The Aud.

Kitchener Public Library

The KPL will be hosting Game 1 of the World Series on Friday on the big screen in the Central Library.

No registration is required, with seating being given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and pre-game Jays-themed trivia will start at 7:30 p.m.

Cambridge

Gaslight District

The Gaslight District have scheduled the first four games of the series on the big screen in District Square. The website says the Foundry Tavern will be selling $5 beers during every game.

Doors open at 8 p.m.

Waterloo

Waterloo Public Square

The Uptown Waterloo BIA and City of Waterloo have partnered for a public viewing of Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The pre-game starts at 7 p.m. on the big screen and the game starts at 8 p.m. There will be some picnic tables and Muskoka chairs available but viewers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

If there is a Game 7, it will be shown Uptown on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 at 316 Marsland Dr. will be welcoming patrons for all World Series games.

The legion says they will be selling hot dogs starting at $2.
