Ride For Refuge returns to Waterloo Region

A family-friendly bike, run and walk will be taking place in several parts of the region on Saturday as part of the annual Ride for Refuge campaign.
The annual campaign helps organizations across the country to raise funds for those seeking hope, safety and freedom. As of Saturday morning, over $1.2 million of the $1.5 million goal had been raised, with 671 teams taking part in 55 different location.
Two locations will begin their rides at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The first team for Kitchener Central will be at Red Raccoon Bike rescue at 79 Joseph St. and will be raising funds for the Social Development Centre Waterloo Region.
The second team in Waterloo gets going at United College at the University of Waterloo at 190 Westmount Rd. and is raising money for Reception House Waterloo Region.
In the afternoon, walkers and riders for the Kitchener Grand River team will be at Doon Valley Golf Course at 500 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener for the Compass Refugee Centre.
Options include two, five, 10 and 20 kilometre trails.
Riders must register ahead of time to take part in the event. More information can be found on the Ride For Refuge website.
