Two Kitchener grandmothers win top prizes with OLG lottery games

It’s a lucky stretch for grandmothers in Kitchener, as two women from the city are separate winners of lottery games.

The first winner, Zahida Al-Dabbagh, received the top prize with INSTANT BINGO MULTIPLIER, winning $250,000. The mother of six and grandmother of 10 has been playing the lottery since she came to Canada in 1990.

The 68-year-old said her favourite game is INSTANT BINGO.

“This is my first major win,” she said in the press release. “I was so thrilled and happy. My kids didn’t believe it — they thought I was joking.”

Al-Dabbagh said she plans on using the money to help out her family.

“This win feels great,” she said.

The winning ticket was bought at Ted’s Smokes on Ottawa Street North in Kitchener.

Also, a winner of a top prize is Sandra Novak of Kitchener, who is now $75,000 richer.

The mother of two, and grandmother of two, enjoys playing various INSTANT games with OLG, but only plays the lottery occasionally, the press release reads.

Her big earner came on an INSTANT AMETHYST SOLITAIRE. when Novak told her friends and family, she said they were thrilled for her.

“This experience has been awesome — just unbelievable,” Novak said.

Her winning ticket was bought at Zehrs on Pioneer Drive in Kitchener.
