Forensic evidence helps police identify suspect in Kitchener mall break-in

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Three months after a break-in at a Kitchener mall, police have made an arrest, and it was forensic evidence that helped identify the suspect.

Police responded to Fairview Park Mall on the morning of June 18 after three suspects smashed a glass door to get inside and then broke display cases within a business.

They stole several cell phones, valued at almost $4,000.

Investigators found forensic evidence at the scene which led to the successful identification of one of the suspects.

On Thursday, that suspect was arrested in Peel Region for operating a stolen vehicle.

The 38-year-old Mississauga man was transported to Waterloo Region for a bail hearing. He has been charged with several offences including break-and-enter and possession of stolen goods.
