You may need to hold on to your hat today in the Region of Waterloo as Environment Canada warns of the possibility of strong wind gusts in the forecast.
The weather agency issued a special weather statement early Friday, warning of southwesterly gusts expected to blow through the region beginning late in the morning as a low-pressure system moves over northeastern Ontario.
Strong winds between 70 to 90 km/h are possible, while some areas more north of Waterloo Region, around the Bruce Peninsula, are dealing with wind warnings on Sept. 5.
Carl Lam, 570 Meteorologist, noted that aside from the wind, Friday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with scattered rain showers into the afternoon, along with a high of 21 C.
It’s expected that the windy conditions will continue through into the evening.

As those conditions clear out, people can expect a move into a fairly typical September weekend. Saturday brings increasing sun through the afternoon with a high of 18 C, while Sunday’s forecast looks like a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 17 C.
