Stabbing in Guelph sees one man arrested, another in hospital

Guelph police are looking for a suspect following a stabbing incident that happened on Tuesday.

It occurred around 6:15 p.m. at an apartment near Wollwich Street and Speedvale Avenue between two men who reportedly didn’t know each other.

An argument broke out and became physical, leading to one of the men being stabbed in the leg.

The suspect then fled the scene but was ultimately located with assistance from a Waterloo Regional Police Service canine unit.

The knife used in the incident was recovered as well in a neighbouring yard, and a man in his 40s was taken to the hospital.

The suspect was found to be on probation with terms not to visit the address where the incident took place, as well as not to contact a woman who lives there or have weapons.

A 24-year-old Guelph man faces several charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and five counts of breaching probation orders.
