13-year-old boy charged with sexual assault

A 13-year-old from Kitchener is facing a sexual assault charge in what police are calling a “targeted incident.”

Waterloo Regional Police said it happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at a residence near Thaler and Kinzie Avenues in the Fairway Road North and River Road East area.

Police said the teen allegedly broke into the home and sexually assaulted a woman.

No physical injuries were reported.

Just before 4 p.m. that same afternoon, officers found and arrested the youth.

He was charged with break and enter, and ‘commit sexual assault.’

A statement from police states that investigators believe the incident was targeted, but does not elaborate.
