As the Region of Waterloo continues construction work to improve a busy section of New Dundee Road in Kitchener, motorists are being warned of a closure now in place on a nearby roadway – Robert Ferrie Drive.
Construction has closed Robert Ferrie between Blair Creek Drive and New Dundee Road, with work expected to stretch through to December 2025.
While New Dundee Road will remain open to traffic during that construction, those heading through the area are advised to watch for hazards.
Challenges along New Dundee Road include temporary lane restrictions and periods where traffic may need to travel on a gravel surface.
There is also the possibility for flagging operations to be rolled during construction along New Dundee Road near Robert Ferrie Drive to allow for safe traffic flow.
Work to improve New Dundee Road kicked off in June of 2025 with a budget just over $4-million, and is expected to construction is expected to extend into the winter.
Improvements slated for the roadway include a new roundabout at Robert Ferrie Drive and New Dundee Road, as well as widening the roadway to allow for a paved shoulder on each side.
New Dundee Road will also host a new multi-use path and a new left turn lane for eastbound traffic from New Dundee Road to Pinnacle Drive.
