Waterloo home broken into in broad daylight

A reminder from Waterloo Regional Police to lock your doors and windows and keep your valuables out of plain sight, after a brazen daytime break-in at a Waterloo home.

Wednesday afternoon, around 12:30 p.m., a group of suspects reportedly broke into a home on River Oak Place, right by Kiwanis Park.

Police said those suspects stole items and fled.

There are no suspect descriptions at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

The service’s Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team has since issued some safety reminders for residents to prevent break-ins, including:

  • Keep doors and windows locked, even when home
  • Keep valuables out of common areas and out of plain sight
  • Install audible noise alarm systems
  • Secure residences with home video surveillance cameras in the front and back of the residence
  • Notify neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange to have someone check on your residence
  • Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to police.
