Charges laid after hydro pole crash in Kitchener

A hydro pole in Kitchener was struck and broken by a sedan on Monday, leading to charges but no injuries in the crash.

According to regional police, the crash took place at around 4 p.m. in the area of Ottawa Street North and Montcalm Drive.

A Toyota sedan crashed into a hydro pole, which led to the pole breaking, with no injuries to the driver.

The 51-year-old from Kitchener was charged with careless driving.

The road was closed for several hours while crews removed the damaged pole.

Police have asked for anyone with more information or dashcam footage of the incident to reach out to police or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
