Waterloo baseball player drafted to LA Dodgers

A baseball player from Waterloo is taking his talents to the MLB in Hollywood.

Charles Davalan, 21, from Waterloo, was drafted by the LA Dodgers in the first round of the MLB draft this past weekend.

The outfielder stands at 5’9″ with plenty of power for his size, and is projected to hit 15 to 20 home runs a year in the big leagues.

The Waterloo native grew up in Montreal and split his time playing college baseball between the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the Arkansas Razorbacks of the NCAA.

Davalan joins the reigning MLB champions to fight for a spot on a roster that includes some of baseball’s brightest stars, including Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts.
