Witness sought after attempted vehicle theft in Waterloo

Regional police are now investigating an attempted vehicle theft in the City of Waterloo, and they’re looking for help in tracking down a possible witness.

It was just before 7 p.m. on Monday when officers were notified of an attempted car theft in the King Street North and Northfield Drive area.

Details surrounding the theft attempt are unclear, including the type of vehicle that was targeted.

Police have indicated, however, that they’d like to speak to the registered owner of a vehicle spotted on a security camera leaving the parking lot of a nearby gas station.

Investigators believe the driver of that vehicle may have witnessed the incident, and would like to track them down.

Anyone with information that could assist police in their investigation is asked to contact them at 519-570-9777.

Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers.
