Rangers face 0-2 series deficit as they return home from Windsor

The Kitchener Rangers have a tough road ahead as they come home trailing in their series with the Windsor Spitfires after another loss in game two on Saturday.

Windsor came out hot scoring four unanswered goals between the first two periods before Luca Romano scored a short-handed goal at 18:32 of the second period. The spitfires would add one more tally in the third period to seal the 5-1 victory and take the 2-0 series lead.

570 colour commentator Paul Fixter said discipline is a problem for the Rangers after taking seven penalties and allowing two power play goals.

“That power play for Windsor is operating at just under 40 per cent, you are playing with fire when you do that,” said Fixter. “Kitchener needs to find a way to be more disciplined and that includes sucking it up and taking a punch to the face or a slash in the back of the legs. At this time of the year, you can’t have a parade to the penalty box and expect to win hockey games.”

The Rangers will return home for the next two games of the series, starting with game three on Monday.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
