Kitchener Rangers shot down by Spitfires offence in Game 1

The Kitchener Rangers are regrouping and recuperating after a crushing 5-1 loss to the Windsor Spitfires in the first game of their second-round playoff series on Thursday.

The Spitfires dominated the Blueshirts throughout the game, scoring five unanswered goals, with Rangers forward Tanner Lam spoiling the shutout with about three minutes left in the contest.

Usually fairly tight at the back, Thursday’s contest was the first time the Rangers had conceded five goals in nearly two months.

“I think the Rangers need to spend some more time in the offensive zone, 19 shots is not enough, and a lot of those were from the outside,” Paul Fixter, 570’s Colour Commentator, said about the Rangers’ offensive display on Thursday. “They need to penetrate the offensive area and take away his eyes.”

The Spitfires lead the series 1-0 heading into game two, set to be played on Saturday at Windsor’s WFCU Centre.

The Rangers return home for game three at The Aud on Monday.
