Kitchener Aud set to host 2025 Call of Duty League Championship

One of the largest video game tournaments across the globe is heading to Waterloo Region this summer, with the 2025 Call of Duty League Championship coming to the Kitchener Aud.

It will be a fight between the eight best teams throughout the league, with esports teams including Faze, Optic, Envy, and the Toronto Ultra all set to be in attendance. The winning team will take home a $2 million prize. It’s set to kick off the summer on June 26-29.

While it’s set to be a big prize for the winning team, it’s also a big win for the local economy.

Director of Sport Hosting for Explore Waterloo, Allister Scorgie, says the boost for hotels, restaurants, brand deals, and more is expected to bring in upwards of $14 million in revenue locally.

The teams will be competing in front of a crowd of over 20,000 people, along with millions of others through online streaming, meaning the championship could become one of the largest events the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium has ever seen.

It’s the 13th year for the massive esports tournament, with Kitchener now being the first city to ever host outside of the United States. Previous hosts include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Orlando.

Single-game general admission tickets start at $30, with four-day passes and premium options also available.
