Whether you’re driving up to the cottage, spending the week clearing out the backyard, or it’s just another work week, the weather over March break promises to beak the winter blues.
There is some leftover winter winds and flurries in the forecast for Friday, with highs near 1 C. The weekend will be calm, with clouds and cold temperatures.
“Saturday morning we’ll be waking to a wind-chill near -17 C,” said 570’s Meteorologist Jill Taylor. “Maybe you’ll just want to sleep in a bit.”
The good news is by the time Monday rolls around, spring will truly be in the air.
Sunny skies and a high of 9 C for Monday, with the sunny skies turning into a mix of sun and cloud for Tuesday and Wednesday.
“By next week we could see highs near 12 C, maybe even squeeze out a 13 C,” Taylor said. “Some nice highs on the way.”
Clocks also spring forward to Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, giving an extra hour of sunlight each evening.
For those travelling outside the region for March break by way of the Region of Waterloo International Airport, could experience some disruptions to the usual flight routine.
The CUPE Local 1656 strike is ongoing with a picket line set up on Airport Road in the approach to the terminal, stopping traffic intermittently to hand out information.
Staff at the airport are asking passengers to check their flight status before heading out to avoid further delays.
