26 vehicles damaged in downtown Guelph, police investigating

More than two dozen vehicles in downtown Guelph have been left with damage, according to the city’s police service.

Officers began receiving reports around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday that vehicles had damaged side windows. A total of 26 owners reported damage to their vehicles, all of which were parked in the area of Cork and Yarmouth streets.

Guelph police say no one reported any thefts from the vehicles.

Officials are looking for a suspect that was caught on video camera. He is described as a white male wearing a black jacket with the hood up, black pants and dark-coloured shoes with a light pattern on them.

At the time of the incident he was carrying, what officers believe, is a red flashlight. They also think he had sustained an injury to his hand or forearm since blood was found at a scene and in some of the damaged vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Michael Braga at 519-824-1212, ext. 7144, email mbraga@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
